Denver, CO - September 25, 2018
MidWest-IX announced today that it is partnering with H5 Data Centers, a leading national wholesale data center owner and operator, to establish an Internet exchange at The Cleveland Technology Center at 1625 Rockwell in downtown Cleveland. The deployment represents the first Internet exchange in Cleveland and builds upon the successful launch of MidWest's Internet exchanges in several Midwest cities. Now with more than 30 peers, MidWest-IX manages one of the country's largest Internet exchanges in Indianapolis.

The expansion of an affordable and neutral Internet exchange in The Cleveland Technology Center is an opportunity for networks and content providers to reduce latency and transit costs. With access to an attractive cost for power, H5 Data Centers continues to combine a world-class, concurrently maintainable data center space with tremendous access to carriers. Further, H5 Data Centers' Cleveland facility currently qualifies for 100% abatement of Ohio state sales and use taxes on data center equipment.

"Starting an Internet exchange in Cleveland is a great opportunity for MidWest-IX to bring value to the region by offering an affordable and neutral Internet exchange platform," explained Justin Wilson, co-founder of MidWest-IX. "We look forward to partnering with H5 Data Centers to build a better Internet in Cleveland."

H5 Data Centers' CEO Josh Simms added, "The expansion of MidWest's platform to the Cleveland Technology Center strengthens our world-class data center and interconnection offering. Cleveland plays a central role in long haul fiber routes from the East Coast to the Midwest and such a partnership with MidWest-IX is an excellent opportunity to create a vibrant peering community."
