Get to Know Hattie McCoy

What's your role at H5 Data Centers?

I am the Marketing Coordinator at H5 Data Centers. I am based out of our Denver, and I help assist with a variety of marketing responsibilities. Everything at H5 Data Centers is multifaceted and versatile, and I like to think I am no exception.

What do you enjoy most about working with H5?

Every day brings a new challenge, and I am always learning something new. I appreciate having the opportunity to work for a company that is evolving and growing. I also feel fortunate to be part of a nation-wide team of hardworking, dedicated people. Everyone has their expertise to bring to the table, and I am happy to learn from and collaborate with them.

Do you have any unique experiences before working in the data center field?

I have been a camp counselor, a lifeguard, a resident assistant, a factory worker, a weekend radio announcer, a baseball video production intern, an agricultural researcher, a waitress, a retailer, a bartender, a receptionist, a personal assistant, a saleswoman, a fragrance specialist, a manager, a marketing and business development professional, and a lot more along the way. I have learned that a title usually paints a tiny picture of what a person does. Without a doubt, I am fond of the Sheryl Sandberg quote, "Careers are a jungle gym, not a ladder."

I have been able to have some fascinating experiences, and could give you a few funny stories from any one of my previous positions. Having a variety of experiences has only reinforced that there is nothing stranger or more intriguing than people and that there is always something to learn.

If you could star in any sci-fi movie, which one would it be and why?

Overall, I favor the Marvel Universe as far as comics go, but I gravitate more toward the fantasy side of the fiction genera. I named my dog after Tolkien's Lord of the Rings character, Gimli. If you like fantasy, I would recommend most novels by Neil Gaiman. I have always been captivated by Jim Henson's more curious creations such as Labyrinth and Dark Crystal. I am also a fan of the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling. I would say I love the idea of magic, hiding in plain sight. I do not know if I would star in any one movie in particular, but I would love to be a mysterious character.

Your prediction for the Super Bowl?

I want the Rams to win, not that I'm a fan of either team.
