Data Center IT Engineer-MMR
Job Description

The IT Engineer’s role is to support the operation of the production and corporate network and desktop infrastructure within the Denver H5 Colocation facility. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software (IOS), and communication links while assuring maximum network availability. Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and improve reliability. In addition, will provide support for all Corporate IT systems, desktops, OS, LAN and voice support. The position is located in the South Denver metropolitan area. Candidate must be willing to provide on-call support 24x7x365.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide 1st & 2nd level support to assist in the diagnosis and resolution of customer incidents
- Supporting multi-vendor platform (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), configuring routers, firewalls and switches, and troubleshooting networks
- Managing telecom and PSTN technologies within the facility (data and voice, DS-1, DS-3, ISDN/PRI, etc.)
- Layer1 cabling implementations in accordance with industry standards and best practices within data center environments
- Develops documentation for new installations that will be used to support the colocation environment and network
- Develops, enhances and maintains network design layouts that are reviewed for problem analysis and resolution
- Responsible for developing daily/monthly/quarterly reports for senior management and customer review on the performance of network services
- Responsible for the support of all corporate LAN technologies, VOIP, wireless, phones, etc.
- Provide end-user support on Desktops, Printers, Telephone, Applications to Onsite and Remote users
Ensure desktop and laptop computers interconnect seamlessly with systems including file servers, email servers, and application servers
Customer Support
- Documents, diagnose, and resolve network problems. Provide on-call support
- Consults with Colocation customers on a regular basis, gathering project requirements
- Create Root Cause analysis reports on incidents affecting customer service
- Support internal corporate user community with desktop/laptops, mobile devices, office applications, voice, LAN technologies
Education & Experience
- College educated (4+ years) in computer/network related field
- Experience in physical cabling infrastructure deployment and support (Layer1)
- Fundamental understanding of Network Protocols (Layer2 switching & Layer3 routing protocols)
- Experience in deploying and supporting wireless technologies
- Experience in the convergent technologies (voice, video)
- Fundamental understanding of Telco transport terminology and concepts required (MPLS, Frame, OC-x, DWDM, SONET, etc.)
- Working knowledge of security products. (firewalls, IPS, Virus software)
- Fundamental understanding of data center best practices and cabling standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- The ability to work well in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Working Knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems Windows & office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint etc.)
- Working Knowledge of PC Hardware, Server, and software technologies
- Working Knowledge of Apple products - a plus
Desired Qualifications
- RCDD (BICSI) Certification, required
- CCNA Certification, preferred
- MCSE and/or Office 365 Qualifications preferred
- Hands on experience supporting a Cisco centric network
- EHands on experience supporting a desktop / office environment
- Hands on experience making and building structured cabling in a Datacenter environment
