Get to Know Lonnie Claycamp

What's your role at H5 Data Centers?

I am a Lead Building Engineer at the Denver data center.

What do you enjoy most about working with H5?

I enjoy the learning and puzzling out solutions to new problems that come up. I've been here for 19 years and am still learning new things all the time.

Do you have any unique experiences before working in the data center field?

I was a Chief Machinery Operator in the Nuclear Propulsion Program in the U.S. Navy. I worked in #2 Main Machinery Room on the U.S.S. Nimitz aircraft carrier. I also worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at a meatpacking plant in Kansas. That was definitely a unique experience. I enjoyed the Navy better.

If you could go back in time to any decade which would it be and why?

I would love to see the 1940s as long as I would not have to fight in WW2. I love WW2 history and would love to experience the time, but it might be a little scary to actually be there. If I picked a decade in my lifetime, I would choose the 80's, I grew up then and enjoyed that time a lot.

Where is your next vacation or where would you like to travel?

My next vacation is going to be in the Washington D.C. area in October. I am planning to visit the Smithsonian and see the landmarks, with a trip up to Gettysburg to see the Civil War battlefield there. I have always wanted to go to Australia and New Zealand. I would also like to go to Europe and see some castles and WW2 sites and museums. Just a shortlist of places I would like to see.
